Eastern Star of Dance Troupe principles of teaching and teaching characteristic:
1. Eastern Star Dance Troupe embodies the age-old art of dance and education. We utilize individual counseling tailored to the child's dance abilities and characteristics. Emphasis is placed on stretching/flexibility, musical sense and dance rhythm. 2. In order to educate the children who grow up in America to understand and appreciate Chinese culture, our curriculum teaches Chinese ethnic dance and the union between classical and modern content is brought out. This lets the children wander about in the dance art heaven feeling the dance and music.
Dance class and age:
Pre-school class: (Basic) Age: 4 - 6 years old
Children dance class: (level 1): 7-9 years old
Children dance class: (level 2): 10-12 years old
Dance training content:
Flexibility, balance and control of one's body;
Rhythm, Space, Modeling, Music coordination;
Styles of dance taught are Chinese ethnic dance, each kind of nationality, classical dance step and elementary action, and figure training. There will be a performance on stage at the end of the class;
The union ballet dances: Pole, Mobile elementary action practice, Dance sketch.
Participation theatrical performance:
Students of the Eastern Star Dance Troupe will have multiple opportunities to wear attractive Chinese nationality clothing while performing in dance recitals. These will include school and community activities and traditional folk custom culture performances.
President of Eastern Star Dance Troup and dance instructor: Yanie Koch, held the post of dancer in the China Dance Troupe and has participated in various literary performances the organization arranges. Currently she is a HuaXia Chinese school children and adult dance instructor and the adult fitness class teacher.
OCACA invite Ph.D. Edwin Pak-Wah Leung as Artistic Consultant, who is professor and chairman of department of asian studies in Seton Hall University.
OCACA also invite artistic director QingYang, who is president of HXPAT, director in dance and performing arts master in art of teaching, a member of China dence association, a teacher at HCST, Jersey City, NJ.
